Three approaches, chosen by soil, size and how the floor will be finished. A monolithic concrete slab with a thickened perimeter edge is the most common for gazebos that will hold heavy furniture, a table and multiple people, and it doubles as the finished floor when broom finished or as a substrate for tile or pavers. Individual concrete piers under each post cost less, work well where the interior floor will be pavers or decking, and allow drainage through the structure, but each pier must be sized for the load and depth of that post and tied to the post with an embedded base. How Is an Octagonal or Hip Roof Framed?
